The Lycra® Company presents sustainable and technological solutions for innovative fibres.
At the most recent Kingpins 24 trade fair, presented virtually on 22 and 23 April due to the Coronavirus pandemic, The LYCRA Company revealed its latest eco-friendly innovations in terms of stretch fibres and performance.
From materials to incredible innovations
Under its EcoMade fibre range, The LYCRA Company has developed innovative new products composed of pre- and post-consumer materials. The most recent? LYCRA® EcoMade. Manufactured partly with recycled industrial content, this exceptional material is certified in line with GRS standards, offering the same superior quality performance as other LYCRA® fibres. Moreover, LYCRA® T400® EcoMade fibre contains 50% pre-consumer materials and can be used in conjunction with LYCRA® fibre for enhanced stretch with lasting shape retention. Finally, the firm’s polyester fibres are giving a new lease of life to plastics. COOLMAX® EcoMade technology, which helps to keep the wearer cool and dry, is entirely based on post-consumer recycled materials. And finally, to guarantee lightweight warmth, THERMOLITE® EcoMade fibre is entirely designed from post-consumer recycled materials to optimise comfort and performance.
A commitment to sustainability
From an educational perspective, the Lycra company also presented a conference entitled “Sustainable Stretch – Get the Facts” at this new-generation trade fair. Videos on Planet Agenda, the company’s platform dedicated to sustainability, and on LYCRA® EcoMade fibre were shown during the trade fair’s live broadcast. “We want to thank Kingpins for giving us the opportunity to come together as a denim community and engage our customers on these important topics in a new and exciting way,” stated Jean Hegedus, The LYCRA Company Sustainability Director. “At The LYCRA Company, we’re focused on developing solutions for a circular economy. Under our Planet Agenda platform, we are also working on technologies for recycling stretch garments, extending garment wear life, and helping our customers use fewer, and more sustainable resources.” A convincing way of combining performance and ecology.
