a scandinavian style legacy
Cecilie Bahnsen’s head was surely full of dreams when she left her native Denmark. Determined to make her mark on Scandinavian fashion, the designer initially pursued fashion studies at London’s Royal College of Art. After graduating, she worked at Erdem for three years, then John Galliano, where Cecilie Bahnsen created her own world, pairing French elegance with Nordic minimalism, inherited from her maternal side.
Back in Denmark, she settled in Osterbro, a chic Copenhagen neighbourhood known for its high-end designer stores. In 2015, Cecilie Bahnsen made her plans a reality and founded her eponymous brand; just two years before becoming an LVMH award finalist in 2017… A promising debut, no doubt reflecting the Danish designer’s talent.
cecilie bahnsen’s romantic style
Now tinged with black, Cecilie Bahnsen’s current collections look to be less demure and innocent than her previous ones. Inspired by David Lynch’s works, she gives her designs a more mystical and mature feel. Cecilie Bahnsen is bringing the Romantic era up to date in a gentle, imaginative style with puff sleeves, marked waists, peplum tops, psyched-up quilted dresses, etc.
Like paintings you never tire of contemplating, the pieces reveal all their secrets when you approach them. Featuring delicate embroidery, refined finishes, complex craftsmanship details, etc., Cecilie Bahnsen offers a collection of haute couture quality, for sophisticated clothing made with meticulous care.
Playing with contrasts, the designer brilliantly fuses imposing volumes and airy fabrics to create light and energetic looks. Quilted coats are set against tulle dresses, while lace skirts rub shoulders with handmade knits.
